BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.74 percent to 2,991.44 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.82 percent higher at 9,632.61 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices totaled 911.5 billion yuan (about 128.1 billion U.S. dollars), down from 961.7 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares of companies engaged in artificial intelligence, games and media led the gains, while those related to lithium mining and food suffered heavy losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.25 percent to close at 1,915.74 points Monday.
