BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.04 percent to 2,855.52 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.16 percent higher at 8,194.65 points. The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 526.53 billion yuan (about 74.01 billion U.S. dollars), up from 510.22 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day. Shares in the solid state battery and flexible screen sectors led the gains, while the education and precious metal sectors, as well as road and railway transportation, were among those suffering major losses. The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.1 percent to close at 1,545.31 points Monday.
