BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.84 percent to 3,142.78 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.98 percent higher at 10,382.38 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices expanded to 841.2 billion yuan (about 116.67 billion U.S. dollars), up from 681.8 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to pharmaceuticals led the gains, while those related to satellite navigation suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.65 percent to close at 2,063.19 points Monday.
