BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.39 percent to 3,296.47 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.32 percent higher at 11,127.04 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 792.6 billion yuan (about 112.98 billion U.S. dollars), down from nearly 850 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to accommodation, catering and power generation sectors led the gains, while those related to electronic information, communication and entertainment industries suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.07 percent to close at 2,280.15 points on Monday
