BEIJING, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.72 percent to 3,284.16 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.14 percent higher at 12,113.61 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 972 billion yuan (about 142.6 billion U.S. dollars), up from 888.5 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Consumption-related shares posted significant gains, especially hotels, and shares related to ChatGPT also saw an increase. The breeding, banking, and shipping sectors suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.1 percent to close at 2,573.18 points Monday.
