Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.64 percent to 3,286.65 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.94 percent higher at 11,605.29 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.01 trillion yuan (about 147 billion U.S. dollars), up from 957.85 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to electronic information, coal and finance led the gains, while stocks in the media and entertainment, as well as steel sectors, suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.83 percent to close at 2,361.41 points Thursday.
