BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.15 percent to 3,233.67 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.76 percent higher at 10,955.96 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 942.2 billion yuan (about 131.78 billion U.S. dollars), down from 960.8 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the sectors of ceramics and media and entertainment led the gains, while those related to oil and gas exploitation and bio-pharmaceuticals suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.68 percent to close at 2,166.96 points on Tuesday.
