BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.04 percent to 3,137.14 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.26 percent higher at 10,482.5 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 984.3 billion yuan (about 137 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.04 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the semiconductor and edge computing sectors led the gains, while brokerages and banks were among the major losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.05 percent to close at 2,117.13 points on Wednesday.
