BEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.05 percent to 3,111.02 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.25 percent higher at 9,414.98 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices reached 707.8 billion yuan (about 100 billion U.S. dollars), down from the 741.73 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Shares in the non-ferrous metal, photovoltaics and solid-state battery industries led the gains, while those related to virtual power plants, beer and banks suffered significant losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.27 percent to close at 1,811.07 points.
