Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.78 percent to 3,275.41 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.17 percent lower at 11,317.01 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.08 trillion yuan (about 157.39 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.22 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the media and anti-COVID drug sectors led the gains, while those in the hospitality and tourism sector saw the heaviest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.71 percent to close at 2,301.24 points on Monday.
