Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.48 percent to 3,234.91 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.27 percent lower at 11,247.13 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.06 trillion yuan (about 153.94 billion U.S. dollars), up from 973.1 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares of companies in the media and entertainment, as well as glass sectors, led the gains, while those related to bio-medicine, petroleum, and food suffered the biggest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.08 percent to close at 2,291.92 points Monday.
