BEIJING, July 8 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.93 percent to 2,922.45 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.54 percent lower at 8,561.95 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 582 billion yuan (about 81.64 billion U.S. dollars), up from 577.4 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Over 4,800 shares closed lower across the board, with shares related to internet lottery and software development leading the decline.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.62 percent to close at 1,628.76 points.
