BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.54 percent to 3,205.57 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.55 percent lower at 10,968.37 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 819.72 billion yuan (about 113.7 billion U.S. dollars), down from 867.7 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to storage chips and real estate led the gains, while those related to rare earth and medicine suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.91 percent to close at 2,192.19 points on Thursday.
