EIJING, March 7 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.41 percent to 3,027.4 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.37 percent lower at 9,267.12 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices totaled 981.7 billion yuan (about 138.26 billion U.S. dollars), up from 931.8 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to media, entertainment and electronics suffered the biggest losses, while those in the fields of equipment upgrades and non-ferrous metals made notable gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.33 percent to close at 1,789.94 points on Thursday.
