BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.03 percent to 3,124.96 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.73 percent lower at 10,125.73 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 634.97 billion yuan (about 88.52 billion U.S. dollars), down from 698.5 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to hotels and tourism reported major losses, while companies engaged in road transport, oil and gas exploitation, and ports and shipping saw gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.88 percent to close at 2,002.66 points.
