BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.43 percent to 2,879.3 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.54 percent lower at 8,468.58 points. The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 599.48 billion yuan (about 84 billion U.S. dollars), up from 585.94 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day. Shares related to real estate led the gains, while those in the railway traffic equipment as well as kitchen and bathroom appliance sectors suffered major losses. The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.29 percent to close at 1,630.95 points.
