BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.24 percent to 2,848.73 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.11 percent lower at 8,103.76 points. The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 511.46 billion yuan (about 71.78 billion U.S. dollars), down from 526.53 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day. Shares related to pre-fabricated buildings were among the biggest gainers, while the consumer electronics sector suffered major losses. The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.94 percent to close at 1,530.74 points Tuesday.
