BEIJING, July 5 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed mixed on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.26 percent to 2,949.93 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.25 percent higher at 8,695.55 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 577.4 billion yuan (about 80.99 billion U.S. dollars), down from 583.14 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Over 3,900 shares closed higher across the board, with shares related to medical equipment and innovative medicine leading the gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.51 percent to close at 1,655.59 points Friday.
