BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.07 percent to 3,232.44 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.47 percent lower at 10,946.08 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 869.1 billion yuan (about 122.6 billion U.S. dollars), down from 940.6 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in sectors such as media and entertainment, textiles, tourism and home appliances led the gains, while those related to liquor making, food and non-ferrous metals suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.39 percent to close at 2,202.14 points Monday.
