Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.05 percent to 3,313.57 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.04 percent higher at 11,877.15 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.08 trillion yuan (about 156.8 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.22 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the media and intellectual property protection sectors led the gains, while those related to Baijiu (a type of Chinese liquor) and photovoltaics suffered heavy losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.17 percent to close at 2,439.4 points Tuesday.
