Brand Story
Zheng He was a Chinese explorer and admiral who led several major expeditions known as “treasure hunts” in the early 15th century. Zheng He was born in Yunnan Province, China in 1371.
From 1405 to 1433, Zheng He led seven great expeditions to Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and East Africa, with a fleet of as many as 300 ships and a crew of as many as 28,000. The purpose of these voyages is to establish diplomatic and economic relations with other countries.
Zheng He’s ships were some of the largest and most advanced at the time, some as long as 120 meters. They were equipped with various navigation tools, including compasses, nautical charts, and star charts, and were able to take advantage of monsoons and ocean currents for long-distance sailing.
Zheng He sailed to the West and brought back rare treasures such as spices, gems, and animals, and established diplomatic relations with rulers of other countries. He is known for his diplomatic skills and ability to negotiate favorable trade deals with foreign powers.
