BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) — Wholesale prices of China’s major farm produce dropped during the week from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2, data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs showed.
The country’s farm produce wholesale price index stood at 116.07 during the period, down 1.32 points from the previous week and 13.86 points lower than the same period last year, according to the ministry.
The average wholesale price of pork, China’s staple meat, edged down 1.9 percent weekly to 20.76 yuan (about 2.89 U.S. dollars) per kilo, a decline of 41.4 percent year on year. The figure for eggs fell 1.4 percent on a weekly basis to 10.28 yuan per kilo.
In the same period, the average wholesale price of 19 vegetables tracked by the government hit 3.54 yuan per kilo, down 3.8 percent week on week and 18.4 percent year on year.
The average figure for six key fruits rose 1.5 percent week on week to 6.64 yuan per kilo, 1.7 percent higher than the same period of 2022, the data also revealed.
