China’s Foreign Trade Rises By 2.5% To $2.5t In The First Five Months

China’s foreign trade grew by 2.5 percent year-on-year to 17.94 trillion yuan ($2.5 trillion) in the first five months of 2025, data from the General Administration of Customs showed on Monday.

 In the meantime, the country’s exports rose 7.2 percent on a yearly basis to 10.67 trillion yuan, while imports declined 3.8 percent year-on-year to 7.27 trillion yuan.

 China’s exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 6.4 trillion yuan between January and May, an increase of 9.3 percent year-on-year, accounting for 60 percent of the country’s total exports, according to the administration.

 China’s total value of goods trade reached 3.81 trillion yuan in May, up 2.7 percent year-on-year.
