BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.16 percent to 3,140.72 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2 percent higher at 9,779.21 points.
