BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.4 percent to 3,177.06 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.41 percent higher at 10,611.74 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 884.9 billion yuan (about 123.27 billion U.S. dollars), up from 745.4 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Almost all the sectors in the stock market rallied, with petroleum and coal shares recording the biggest gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.85 percent to close at 2,118.03 points Monday.
