BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.28 percent to 3,196.61 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.73 percent lower at 10,888.55 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 799.8 billion yuan (about 111 billion U.S. dollars), down from 819.72 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to crop planting, livestock farming and electricity led the gains, while those related to data security, computing services and semiconductors suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.05 percent to close at 2,169.21 points.
