BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.55 percent to 3,119.88 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.61 percent lower at 10,418.21 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 829.2 billion yuan (about 115.47 billion U.S. dollars), down from 984.3 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to the property sector and development zones saw major losses, while companies focused on aquatic products and biomedicines reported gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.69 percent, closing at 2,102.57 points on Thursday.
