BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.22 percent to 3,182.38 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.1 percent lower at 10,915.5 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 860.3 billion yuan (about 119.14 billion U.S. dollars), down from 888.2 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the media and entertainment sector led the gains, while those related to hotel and tourism suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.09 percent to close at 2,180.06 points Thursday.
