Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.68 percent to 3,370.13 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.84 percent lower at 11,760.27 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.08 trillion yuan (about 157.13 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.06 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the tourism, accommodation and media sectors led the gains, while those in kitchen and bathroom appliances, securities and dairy industries saw the heaviest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.63 percent to close at 2,415.76 points on Wednesday.
