Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.49 percent to 3,312.56 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.25 percent lower at 11,859.48 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.32 trillion yuan (about 192.14 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.24 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to traditional Chinese medicine and semiconductor led the gains, while stocks in sectors such as electrical appliances and plastic products suffered the biggest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.76 percent to close at 2,421.65 points on Tuesday.
