Macao’s Cross-Border Vehicle Traffic Hikes 56.2 Pct In May

16884693327555  MACAO, July 3 (Xinhua) — Macao’s cross-border vehicle traffic in May hiked by 56.2 percent year on year to 614,013 trips, the Macao Special Administrative Region’s statistical service said on Friday.

   The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service showed that the gross weight of port containerized cargo went up by 32.0 percent year on year to 17,738 tonnes last month.

   Arriving and departing commercial flights totaled 3,174 trips in May, a surge of 465.8 percent year on year, showed the report.

   Licensed motor vehicles in Macao totaled 249,338 at the end of May, up by 1.0 percent year on year. New motor vehicle registration in May went up by 41.8 percent year on year to 1,032.

   The report showed that traffic accidents last month dropped by 4.9 percent year on year to 943, with 355 persons injured.
