SinoEV (Hefei) Powertrain Technologies Co Ltd, a pioneer of electric vehicle power systems, is accelerating its global expansion and flexible technological capabilities, betting on safety-focused innovations to secure its position in the fast-evolving global EV supply chain.
Wang Yang, president of SinoEV Powertrain, said in an interview with China Daily that as of April, the company has already shipped over 2 million units of EV batteries worldwide, bolstering partnership with around 60 carmakers and 20 battery cell manufacturers.
“We’re not just building batteries—we’re building trust. In this industry, safety and performance is everything, and we believe independent Pack companies like us play a vital role in bridging innovation between cell manufacturers and automakers globally,” Wang said.、
SinoEV designs, manufactures and sells tailor-made battery systems compatible with a wide range of chemistries and cell shapes, offering both vehicle power solutions and battery management systems. It also provides energy storage systems, further diversifying its portfolio.
Its factories are spread across Hefei, Anhui province, Putian, Fujian province, Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and India—highlighting the company’s growing overseas ambitions.
“We’re proud to be part of China’s new wave of globally competitive manufacturers. Localization matters. Whether it’s Southeast Asia or Europe, we want to be close to the market, close to the customer,” he said.
At the heart of SinoEV’s rise is its relentless focus on battery safety, especially thermal management. In collaboration with top research institutions including the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei University of Technology and Anhui University, the company has filed 1,523 patents to date—235 of them for inventions.
According to data from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center’s global auto patent database, SinoEV is among China’s leaders in thermal management-related battery patents as of June 2025.
One of its flagship technologies is the BEST high-energy-density honeycomb module, developed for cylindrical cells. After more than a decade of development and thousands of controlled cell explosion tests, the resulting system can withstand cell failures without catching fire. “Even if a cell explodes, the system won’t burn,” said Wang. “This is what gives automakers peace of mind.”
The honeycomb system boasts zero thermal propagation, high-efficiency assembly, and full-weather operability. It is widely regarded as China’s first industrialized high-energy-density ternary battery system with zero thermal runaway.
For prismatic cells, the company has also introduced the MUST large multifunctional integrated module, designed with simplicity, high integration, and cost-effectiveness in mind. Wang describes it as “not just a battery, but a platform that adapts to diverse client needs.”
