German testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) firm TÜV Rheinland Greater China has announced a $21.74 million (150 million yuan) investment to establish a new operation center in Guangzhou Development District, Guangdong province. The project, in cooperation with the Huangpu district government, is designed to strengthen the region’s industrial technology services and global competitiveness.
The upcoming TÜV Rheinland Greater Bay Area Operation Center will house research and development facilities, a capability center, and a comprehensive testing and certification platform. Laboratories will cover cutting-edge sectors including new energy vehicles, intelligent connected vehicle components, robotics, low-altitude aircraft, smart home appliances, and related components.
Beyond testing and certification, the center will provide management system certification, supply chain quality assessment, and sustainability evaluation, while a dedicated talent training center will focus on low-carbon development and intelligent manufacturing upgrading.
TÜV Rheinland, an independent third-party TIC body with over 30 years of experience in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, said the project is expected to enhance the competitiveness of local enterprises in global markets and advance the internationalization of industrial technical standards.
For international investors, the Guangzhou operation center reflects China’s growing emphasis on industrial technology services, standards compliance, and regional innovation clusters, offering opportunities for collaboration across smart manufacturing, green technology, and high-tech supply chains.
