BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.04 percent to 3,245.35 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.35 percent higher at 11,130.3 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices exceeded 929.3 billion yuan (128.71 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.02 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to automotive components, semiconductors, and automotive vehicles led the gains, while those related to electricity and shipbuilding suffered remarkable losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.2 percent to close at 2,232.75 points.
