During the period, the country’s farm produce wholesale price index stood at 120.14, dipping 0.01 points from the previous week and decreasing by 1.52 points from the same period last year, according to the ministry.
The average wholesale price of pork, a staple meat in China, went down 0.3 percent week on week and dropped 21.8 percent year on year, while that of eggs rose 1.5 percent from the previous week and increased by 7.7 percent compared to the same period of 2022.
The average price of 19 key vegetables tracked by the ministry went up 1.3 percent on a weekly basis. The figure fell 2.8 percent year on year.
In the same period, the figure for six key fruits went down 0.8 percent week on week, but rose 4.3 percent on a yearly basis, the data also revealed.
The wholesale price index is compiled based on data from over 200 agricultural wholesale markets. It is updated daily based on the weighted average of price indices for goods, including vegetables, fruits, aquatic products and livestock products.
