BEIJING, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.68 percent to 3,040.97 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.94 percent lower at 9,839.52 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices totaled 813.3 billion yuan (about 114.3 billion U.S. dollars), down from 824.2 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Electronic information and automobile manufacturing shares were among the biggest losers, while shares related to bio-medicines and agriculture saw gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, fell 1.19 percent to close at 1,937.94 points on Friday.
